Plastic Tree - Spica single review
August 2nd 2009 10:32
In conjunction with Plastic Tree's new compilation release, I decide to review one of the song from their new compilation release, Gestalt Hokai. Since Spica is also one of the track in this compilation, let's have a look at it. You can expect that there'll be more reviews from this compilation for the next couple of weeks. Anyway, here's the review:
Tracklist:
1. Spica
2. Romu
3. Spica -Instrumental-
4. Romu -Instrumental-
Comment:
I never listened to the sample before I bought this single but I was really surprised that it's a ballad song. If you're asking me did Plastic Tree had made this kind of song before, my answer is there's none or I might be missing something. If I ever forget any songs which resemble similar like Spica, do tell me because this kind of song isn't that significant in Plastic Tree.
Regardless of how slow is this song, it's still makes you feel calm and not just that, it makes me feel so touched when I listened to it for the first time. If the music doesn't satisfy you, the lyrics might be able to satisfy you a bit because the lyrics is very touching. Even if you don't understand Japanese, Ryutarou's feeling is more than enough to convey the meaning of the whole lyrics. Seriously, this song is powerful because of the lyrics and the music. Since this song is also included in their album, Nega to Poji, this song has a little bit of modification for the album version. For me, a beautiful lyrics like Spica will suits better in ballad compared with the heavy music (Duh!). If you listened to the instrumental version, it will be a lot more touching. Maybe it has something to do with Ryutarou's feeling had left a deep impression on me.
If you're thinking the next song, Romu will be a heavy song, too bad you guess the music wrongly because it's similar like Spica but the only difference is it's a bit upbeat compared to Spica. Despite of the song is a ballad, I find that the song has lifted my mood after a long, hard day. Listen to this song if you feel like your mood needs a lift.
Overall, I know that this single isn't as amazing as their other singles and I believe that so many people hate this single. Personally, I don't really adore this single that much because I don't fancy ballad song. However, when I listened to this song, I feel like this song has given me a whole new different feeling about Plastic Tree's song. I know that Plastic Tree has never made this kind of song before (please correct me if I happened to leave out this kind of song before Spica was released) so I feel like it's a refreshing change for Plastic Tree. Buy this single if you love ballad song.
