Gazette's latest single, Shiver which is also the OP for the anime Kuroshitsuji II. This review is based on Auditory Impression version.

Comment:
It's been a long time that Gazette hasn't released anything since Before I Decay. So, when they announced the single release, I was pretty much happy that they have finally released a new singleeven though this single really ripped me off after for so long.
Honestly, I didn't put much hope for this single. After all, the song SHIVER is the OP for Kuroshitsuji II which I don't like the anime that much. However, after listening to it for the first time when the full pv came out, I just kinda like this song because the song does feel like their usual old song. Even though the song doesn't seems to have a proper intro, but somehow I can tolerate with that because of the Gazette's old school feeling. Matching the song with the anime, I would say that SHIVER is a perfect fit for the anime.
HESITATING MEANS DEATH on the other hand is heavier than SHIVER. I don't mind with heavier and edgy song and this song happens to be my favorite song among the three songs in this single. Too bad the lyrics is in Engrish and there is only one line in Japanese. No offense to Ruki's Engrish, but I still don't get what he said unless I have the booklet right in front of me. I think most of you would have known this by now, lol.
Naraku is also a nice song and it's more or less like Distress and Coma style. I don't have anything much to say other than I love this song but I love HESITATING MEANS DEATH the most.
Over the past few years listening through all of the previous single starting Guren, I just realized that this single has the most prominent old Gazette feeling. The sound doesn't have to be hard but it's simple - this is what I think when I listened to SHIVER. I remember that one of my friend who told me that she rarely listens to Gazette these days (she's more into indie bands lately) because Gazette's songs aren't like they used to. Well, I think she's right after all because the transition feels so apparent since Nil. So, if you're like my friend who prefer Gazette's old style, this single is definitely the single that you've been looking for after for so long. This is a must-buy if old Gazette feeling is what you're looking for.
Of course, this is a must-buy for new fans as well because every single songs are worth a listen. Don't miss this single from your a-must-buy list.
