An Cafe - Cosmos single review

May 23rd 2009 04:41
In conjunction with An Cafe's live performance in Nippon Budoukan next year, I'm thinking of writing a review about their third single when they're still indie. So here is their third single during their early year, Cosmos.

An Cafe, Cosmos, cover

Tracklist:

1. Ese Uranai

2. Touhikairo
3. Duck No Magical Adventure

An Cafe, Cosmos

Comment:

If you're so used to listen to An Cafe's current songs, you will feel that listening to this whole single might make your jaw dropped. Honestly, their songs wasn't a happy song back then. Even the song Ese Uranai sounds like a typical visual-kei song but the only different is that the song is kinda laid-back and Miku's voice is totally different. You may not like his old singing style before because you feel it sounds so bizarre compared to his current style. But I guess let's just put that aside to be fair enough. Even though Ese Uranai doesn't sound like a happy song (that's what I feel though), it's still a good introduction for the single.

In Touhikairo, listening to Miku's scream sounds really awkward since he rarely screams in their new songs. Even I also have forgotten the fact that he used to scream a lot back then. This song is heavier than Ese Uranai but you may find it unpleasant to hear Miku's scream, that is if you're not used to it.

Duck No Magical Adventure is what I want to highlight for this single. Honestly, this is the funniest and the most laid-back song I've ever heard in my entire life. The intro of this song is accompanied by the duck sound and yeah, you can imagine there's Donald Duck in the song. In between the song, there are members' introduction with Miku imitating how the foreigners speak Japanese and sing Tiramisu song off-key. This song is full of randomness making you feel full of question marks at first and then starts to laugh your heads off. So yeah, have a listen and you will definitely agree with me.

Overall, this single may not favorable to you at first because it sounds totally different than their latest release. But for me, Duck No Magical Adventure is a sure win making this single a must listen if you're curious enough about Duck No Magical Adventure XD.
